  1. Q. Will we need to bring dishes and cutlery?
    A.
    No we provide everything you need in the kitchen except consumables.
     

  2. Q. Should we bring linen and towels?
    A.
    We provide pre-made beds and towels. You will have to bring your own beach towels.
     

  3. Q. Is there a deck?
    A.
    Yes. It is approximately 3,000 sq ft. and faces southwest.
     

  4. Q. Should we bring our food up with us or buy it up there?
    A.
    We have multiple supermarkets in Bracebridge. Some guests prefer to shop enroute or once they arrive. Others prefer to shop in advance to ensure their particular selections are available. There are also farmers markets in town during the summer months.
     

  5. Q. What are the best restaurants?
    A.
    There are many private restaurants in Bracebridge, Port Carling, and Huntsville to choose from. There are also roughly a dozen first class resorts in the same area. Let's us know your dining preferences and we will help identify the right restaurant for you.
     

  6. Q. What's the maximum number of people you can accommodate?
    A.
    We have lots of sleeping space (enough to sleep 15 in beds). The living, dining and kitchen areas are all spacious enough to accommodate large gatherings. (And don't forget the decks, covered porch and enormous wandering space outside!) There are three bathrooms, two on the main floor and one on the upper level. There are 5 bedrooms. 1 king, 2 Queens, and 3 double beds, 1 bunk bed, and one single pull out couch.
     

  7. Q. Can we have other guests too?
    A.
    You may invite anyone to visit or even stay over but must advise us in advance. Additional guests are $50 each per night. The house is spacious enough for large groups, but we would want assurances that you will treat it with respect.
     

  8. Q. What should we bring with us?
    A.
    Only your personal items and consumables (food, drinks, clothing, toiletries). Anything you plan to use up should be brought along. We provide all necessary linens,towels, kitchenware, etc. and also provide firewood, propane, hand soaps, cleaning supplies and garbage bags..
     

  9. Q. Is there parking for an RV?
    A.
    Yes. We have room to park an RV.
     

  10. Q. What's the kitchen like?
    A.
    The kitchen is large, and well-equipped. There is a 5-element electric range, 2 wall ovens, warming drawer, 2 refrigerators, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, electric hot water tap, Blender, juicer, slow cooker, and coffee maker.
     

  11. Q. Is it a waterfront property?
    A.
    No. The Chalet is located approximatley 3 km from the beach on Lake Muskoka.
     

  12. Q. Where can we swim? Are there any beaches?
    A.
    Yes. Bowyers beach is approximately 6km away. Mildford bay is approximatley 10km and Kirby Beach is approximately 15km. All are sandy and have public access.
     

  13. Q. How private is it?
    A.
    The chalet is very private. Sits high up and backs over several acres of panoramic southwest views.

  14. Q. What about security?
    A.
    The chalet is equipped with smoke, fire, and burglar alarms as well as exterior video monitoring.

  15. Q. Do you have a washer and dryer?
    A.
    Yes, Front loading high effeciency.
     

  16. Q. Can we bring our pet?
    A.
    No. Sorry no pets.
     

  17. Q. Can we smoke in the cottage?
    A.
    No, we require that smokers smoke outside.
     

  18. Q. Do we have to clean up?
    A.
    Yes. we expect that you will leave the house and property in original condition and generally tidied up. A cleaning charge only applies if the chalet is left very untidy. You do not have to worry about the linen and towel laundry.
     

  19. Q. What about young children?
    A.
    We welcome children and try to provide a friendly atmosphere for them, expecting, of course, that you will give them appropriate supervision. Children under 2 are no additional charge.
     

  20. Q. Are there things for kids to do?
    A.
    Absolutely. In addition to the beaches close by, Santas Village, movie theatre- we have toys for young children, a games cupboard, Discovery outdoor play centre and swing set for running and playing. There is also television, a DVD player and VCR CD players and arts and crafts materials. We also have children's books.
     

  21. Q. Is the water safe to drink?
    A.
    Our pure water comes from deep down in the muskoka granite has been tested to be safe to drink .
     

  22. Q. Are there phones or internet access?
    A.
    There is no land line at the chalet. There is high speed wired and wireless internet. Cell phones have full coverage on the property.
     

  23. Q. Where is the nearest place to buy beer, liquor, or food?
    A.
    The closest beer/ liquor stores are in Bracebridge (about 8 kilometers), 2 large grocery stores are also in town. In summer there are farmers markets and stands and there is a sizeable organic farming community in the area.
     

  24. Q. What attractions are nearby?
    A.
    There is plenty to see and do in the region, whether you are interested in recreation and sports, arts and crafts, music, theatre, museums, tours or seeing the sights.
     

  25. Q. How far are you from the major cities in Southern Ontario?
    A.
    We are about 180 km (110mi) north of Toronto . The trip takes approx 2 hours by car from the Toronto Airport, depending on traffic.
     

  26. Q. How to use the septic system?
    A.
    Natural waste and toilet paper are the only things allowed down the drain. Other items, such as diaper wipes, tampons, food and grease will back up the septic system and result in costly repairs. All children and guests need to know and observe this.
     

  27. Q. Is there a BBQ?
    A.
    Yes. Ducane gas range with propane under the covered deck.
     

  28. Q. How to deal with garbage?
    A.
    Garbage and recycling bins are located in the garage. We will remove them when you leave.
     

  29. Q. What about parking?
    A.
    There is parking for 8 cars in front of the house. There is more parking availabe further down the driveway.
     

  30. Q. Can we have a camp fire?
    A.
    There is a camp fire pit and fires are allowed at the chalet.. Camp fires are to be contained and supervised and happen only in the campfire pit. You will be notified if there is a fire ban in effect, and to adhere to it Failure to do so will result in rather large fines to you from the Fire Department. There is plenty of firewood provided at the Chalet. Always douse fire thoroughly before leaving it.
     

  31. Q. Can I bring my boat?.
    A.
    Yes. There are a number of public boat launches near by. Some free. You can park your trailered boat on our property. Many local marinas and outfitters' stores also rent fishing and other power boats.

  32. Q. What do we need to do when leaving the cottage?
    A.
    The cottage must be left generally clean and tidy before you depart. A cottage cleaning checklist can be found in the Cottage Information package at the cottage. All garbage is to be baged with supplied garbage bags and taken to the garage.
     

  33. Q. When can we check in?
    A.
    Generally arrival time is 4PM on your first day and departure time is 11AM on your last day.
     

  34. Q. What electronic entertainment do you have?
    A.
    We have DVD Blue Ray,VCR, internet radio, 52" LCD TV, 2 regular TV's. Surrround sound stereo for watching your favorite movies. Bring your own video games system. Netflix is available as well as a good selection of DVD movies here. There is no cable or satalite TV.
     

  35. Q. Are extra nights available?
    A.
    Yes. Extra nights are available if you wish. Provided they haven't already been booked by another party. Check our Bookings page for rates.

  36. Q. When will we get our security deposit back?
    A.
    Generally, security deposits are sent interac etransfer within 2-4 days after the departure date, once the property is cleared of damages and any other outstanding charges.
